Rock on, Newfoundland!

They call it “the Rock” .   The geology here is unique.    The views, inspiring.

morning light on the coast

Majestic cliffs of black and red or deep green with pines, lush green valleys and water everywhere   – wide winding rivers, immense sparkling lakes and  “ponds” that put the Finger Lakes to shame. I walked along a high coast trail in the early morning.  The crashing waves below me were so beautiful in the sun.  Everything is so dramatic here – even the rain. Driving toward the Avalon Peninsula we encountered the hardest rainfall either of us had ever seen. Ray thought the windshield was going to blow in!

Rain and double rainbow

Nfld is one and a half hours ahead of NY.

My friend Sarah taught me that it’s not NEWfoundland – nor is it NewFOUNDland. It’s NewfounfLAND! (similiar to Understand)

– more to come….
