We had a wonderful day before the hurricane hit. We went to Cape Spear – the easternmost point on the continent.
George and Sarah took us to lunch at a lovely little fishing village – Petty Harbor, where we felt like we’d gone back in time.
Then we clmbed Marconi’s tower on Signal Hill. It is just above St. John’s harbor with a perfect view of the “Narrows”. The tower still had all the signal flags. On the way home we stopped at Conception Bay so I could step in the North Atlantic. – and ended the day with a glass of wine watching a lovely sunset over Sarah’s lake.
Hurricane Igor arrived the next day but that’s another entry! stay tuned….
